COMPARISON OF THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY MARKETS

Often, when investors talk about buying stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, they refer to "markets."  There are two major markets on which these investments are bought—the primary and secondary markets.  There are also third and fourth markets, which we will not discuss here.  This tutorial will compare the features of the primary and secondary markets, and help you distinguish between the two.

We will begin by defining the primary and secondary markets for securities.
